What is your background/ story?
I am an active boxer and compete for Haringey Boxing Club, which is in north London. I only actually took up boxing a few years ago - before that I played netball and did a lot of snowboarding. I signed up to a charity white collar fight nearly three years ago...and got hooked! At the time I was a journalist, but I ended up making a career change - although I did my degree in Sports Science so that helped a bit. Since taking up boxing I have won three international tournaments, boxed abroad for the London team, and won the English Southern Area Title belt.
What is your proudest achievement?
Winning the Haringey Box Cup for the second time in a row. It’s an international tournament held at Alexandra Palace and is very highly regarded. I worked really, really hard for it so was over the moon when I won.
None that I know of. I’m sure I get plenty behind my back - on account of my fondness for burpees...
What’s your favourite / least favourite exercise?
I love pads, bag work, sparring (so basically punching stuff!) and running. I HATE weights, which I know isn’t very fashionable right now... all my training is bodyweight-based.
What aspect of training do you pride yourself on / bring to your classes?
My fitness and cardio training is on point. Also, I box competitively so I’m ALL about the technique. So, you’ll actually learn to box as well as get super fit.
When are your classes?
Tuesday 7am/1pm, Thursday 1pm, Friday 7am, Saturday 10am/midday, Sunday 10am/11am.
What’s your music style in class?
RANDOM! Little Mix meets Drake...Power, by Kanye. It’s epic. I listen to it before all my fights.
What’s your favourite workout song?
Power, by Kanye. It’s epic. I listen to it before all my fights.
Describe your class in three words
What’s your naughty cheat meal?
It’s not really a cheat meal, but I’m obsessed with hummus. I’ve genuinely had it for breakfast, lunch and dinner before.
Where can we find you at the weekend?
Boxing! Either sparring or training and hanging with family. I’m also at BXR teaching classes!
One thing you can’t live without?
2 things people don’t know about you?
I play the saxophone - I reached Grade 8 - and I’m a huge film geek.
Come and train with me because...
I will make training fun. Boxing is the best - you get fit while learning a skill, you look cool, and you’ll get lean in time for summer! What more could you want?
